MarsHillChurch.org Free Audio and Video Sermons |
| One of the ways that I keep learning and growing as a Christian is listening to sermons while I drive or work. Maybe you could put some sermons on your phone or iPod and listen to them as you walk home from school or as you get ready for bed each night! I highly recommend the sermons at Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA. |

| A Bible "commentary" is a book that walks you through the words of the Bible verse-by-verse and explains what they mean in today's language and how to live them out. If you've ever had a hard time understanding the Bible with its crazy language, you need a commentary. TruthQuest commentaries are written especially for students like you. A Book You'll Actually Read...Series by Mark Driscoll Small, Informational Books on Christianity |
| This series of short, to the point books is especially helpful for the person who wants to get to know Christianity, the Bible or the Church and hasn't grown up in the Church. I've found the series very helpful as someone who has grown up in the church because the content is written in such down-to-earth language. Each book should take you about one hour to read and the series includes books on The Old Testament, The New Testament, Church Leadership, and Who is God. |

Porn Again Christian A Free e-Book for Guys on Avoiding Lust and Staying Pure |
| Most, if not all, young men struggle with keeping our mind in check, as well as our browsing history. But 1 Thess 4:3 tells us that it's God's will for us that we'd be pure, and Eph 5:3 tells us that the standard is "not even a hint" of impurity! I know this is hard, but victory in Christ over lust and pornography IS possible, so if you're a guy, you need to read this book (maybe even twice). Ladies, feel free to pass on this resource. |

'Everything' Skit A Dramatic Presentation of How Both Jesus and the World Tug on our Hearts |
| This skit illustrates the story every Christian can relate to of meeting Jesus, being distracted by worldly temptations and forgetting about Jesus, and then, after our world is rocked and we are at our lowest point, Jesus comes for us again and saves us from the effects and lure of sin. Watch this video and be reminded how much Jesus loves you. |
|
Billboard Video A Video About Self-Image |
| Without giving away the video, it provides a message about self-esteem and the lies that young girls are taught to believe about how they are "supposed" to look in order to be beautiful. Ladies, watch the video and talk to a parent or your small group leader about your thoughts and feelings after watching. |
|
Letter from Hell A Dramatic Presentation of Hell |
| This video is a dramatic presentation of a fictional situation where a non-Christian teen dies and writes a letter to his Christian friend who is still living. It will make hell very real to you and motivate you to share your faith with your friends. Viewer discretion is advised because the video is scary and disturbing at points, but if Jesus was right when he talked about hell as a real place, then we've got to take it seriously. |
|
The Christian Gospel A Video Clip Describing the Core of Christianity |
| This video clip from a sermon is less than 3 minutes long but succinctly preaches what Christianity is all about from beginning to end. If you've never heard the Christian Gospel ("Good News"), start here. If you think you've heard the Christian Gospel, watch this video anyway. At Eastgate, this is what we unashamedly believe about God, Jesus, Heaven, Hell, and salavtion. |

Eastgate Bible Chapel Sunday Services - 9:30am and 11am |
| Eastgate is a church of about 120 people ranging from infants to the elderly that seeks to bring glory to God. We would obviously love it if you attended Eastgate on Sunday mornings, but we also realize that some people would grow in their faith better at another Christian church, so we've included a few other recommendations below. |
|
Spring Mountain Eastgate's Sister-Church in Clackamas |
| Spring Mountain is one of Eastgate's several sister churches in the Portland area. I am good friends with their youth pastor, Daniel Meadows, and our youth groups often partner together for events like the annual New Year's All-Nighters. SMBC is similar in style to Eastgate. |
|
The Gathering Community Church Meets at FLMS |
| The Gathering Community Church meets every Sunday morning at Floyd Light Middle School (just 6 blocks West of Eastgate) and serves SE Portland by preaching the Bible very well. They are a community of loving people who would point you to Jesus and take very good care of your physical and spiritual needs. |

Abundant Life A Large Church |

Youth Group Media Budget Money to Put Christian Media in Your Hands |
| As the youth pastor of Eastgate I designate a chunk of my ministry budget for "media" (books, movies, music, magazines, etc.). This means that if you know of a Christian book or CD (etc.) that would help you grow in your faith but don't have the money to buy it, have no fear because I will buy it for you! Just ask!If you don't own a single Christian CD or song, contact me immediately. Also, check out this comparison of Christian artists poster to learn which Christian musical artists sound like the artists you like most. |

The SUN Program For Floyd Light Students |
| Floyd Light's SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) Program is a unique after-school program that turns the school into a free community center for students. Parents who want to provide their students with enriching after-school activities can register them for classes like Homework Club, Hip Hop Dance, Movie Making (which I taught in 2010 and 2011), and others (not all classes are available every term). Contact a Floyd Light administrator for details about this program. SUN also provides a full range of services to meet your family's needs (such as early childhood programs, anti-poverty, mental health and addiction). Click the link above to learn more. |

Jesus God Become Man to Die In Your Place For Your Sins To Bring You to God |
| Above all, we want to point you to Jesus, the ultimate resource for experiencing true life and joy, hope and meaning. Jesus (God the Son) created you to have a right relationship with Him, we wronged that relationship with rebellious thoughts, words and deeds, and Jesus came to make it right again. Jesus did not wait for us to pursue Him; He pursued us. He lived a perfect life, the life you could never live, and died a brutal death, the death you should have died, in your place, for your sins, to bring you to God the Father. Nothing else on this website or in this world matters if you don't know and love Jesus who is willing to save you from sin, Satan, demons, death and Hell (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 10:9). |

Your Small Group Leader A Personal Pastor to Be There for You No Matter What |
| When you come to youth group you are provided with a small group of students to talk with about important things and to pray with you. Each group has a leader. This person is trained and qualified to be like your personal pastor who spiritually feeds you and protects you and prays for you throughout the week. If you need advice or just someone to talk to, they are there to help you through tough times and celebrate life's good times. Ask your small group leader for their email or phone number and then write/call/text them throughout the week! You're not being a bother; they actually love you and care about you! |
